Mi Hyang Lee has 1-shot lead at weather-hit Evian major

Taking advantage of an earlier start time to get ahead of bad weather, Mi Hyang Lee surged to a 4-under 67 to take a one-shot lead into the weekend at the Evian Championship. The 37th-ranked Lee was at even through 15 holes on the day before a birdie-birdie-eagle finish in the best of still conditions. Top-ranked Sung Hyun Park, seven-time major winner Inbee Park and Hyo Joo Kim were one shot back. First-round leader Paula Creamer got the worst of the weather and shot 76.

Paula Creamer leads Evian Championship with 1st-round 64

Paula Creamer shot a bogey-free 7-under 64 in the first round of the Evian Championship. Creamer won the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open by four strokes the last time she topped a major leaderboard. Creamer says “It’s been several years where I felt like just all-in-all good in my shoes.”

Maria Torres, Carlota Ciganda lead Evian event, top-ranked Sung Hyun Park struggles

Maria Torres is aiming to stylishly cap a rookie season that Hurricane Maria almost denied her. Torres shared the first-round lead on 6 under at the final women’s golf major. The first Puerto Rican player to get an LPGA Tour card fired a 65 that tied her atop the Evian Championship leaderboard with Carlota Ciganda of Spain.

Play scrapped at rain-hit women’s major, will start Friday

Rain and strong winds have forced the final women’s golf major of the season to be suspended with plans to re-start on Friday as a 54-hole event. LPGA Tour Commissioner Michael Whan says the little play achieved at the Evian Championship will be scrapped.
