Joey Logano lands Daytona pole after qualifying gets canceled

Joey Logano will start Saturday night’s NASCAR Cup Series race on the pole after qualifying was canceled at Daytona International Speedway. It’s a bold break from tradition that’s been met with mixed reviews.

But Haley crossed below the double-yellow line around the inside of the famed track, and NASCAR ruled it an improper pass.

Chase Elliott gives Hendrick, Chevy needed boost with Daytona pole

Chase Elliott turned a lap of 194.045 mph to win the pole at Daytona International Speedway and give sagging Chevrolet a much-needed boost. Elliott had won two poles at the Daytona 500. Vietnam vet Mark Thompson to make Daytona 500 start at 66

The oldest driver in the Daytona 500 is truly a race veteran. Mark Thompson did a tour of duty in Vietnam that wrapped up two decades before he made his NASCAR debut. The 66-year-old Thompson is old enough to be a grandfather to a nice chunk of the Daytona 500 field. He says it will be his final race in any series.
