Several people familiar with the situation say the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to trade disgruntled six-time All-Star Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers in return for point guard Lonzo Ball, forward Brandon Ingram, shooting guard Josh Hart and three first-round draft choices. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the trade cannot become official until the new league year begins July 6. The deal teams Davis with superstar LeBron James.

Pelicans’ David Griffin says no ‘shot clock’ on any Anthony Davis deal

Pelicans basketball operations chief David Griffin says the timing of next week’s NBA draft won’t necessarily raise urgency to deal away disgruntled six-time All-Star Anthony Davis. Griffin says the Pelicans are “not in a hurry to do anything” and “don’t feel there is a time sensitivity” to address Davis’ “desire to stay or not stay.” The Pelicans have the first overall pick in the June 20 NBA draft and likely could acquire more high picks by dealing Davis by then.

James Harden, LeBron James, Anthony Davis finalists for NBA MVP award

Houston’s James Harden, Cleveland’s LeBron James and Anthony Davis of New Orleans are the finalists for the NBA’s MVP award. Harden, who led the league in scoring. Harden, who led the league in scoring, has twice been a runner-up for the award, including last year when Russell Westbrook won. James has won the MVP award four times. Davis was also a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year. The winners will be announced June 25.
