TV Take: ESPN crew on top of its game as Zags take down BYU

There is probably no better way to watch a college basketball game than from inside a loud, raucous arena with about 6,000 of your best friends. But watching from home, with the DVR doing its thing and ESPN2’s cameras catching just about everything, is pretty nice, too.

TV Take: Gonzaga wins bruising battle with one final push

If you stayed with the KHQ broadcast of Gonzaga’s 69-59 win over the University of San Diego until after it was over, you heard Richard Fox sum up the less than two hours of basketball perfectly. “(A) hard-fought, excellent game defensively,” Fox said following the Zags’ 20th win of the season. “GU just had one more spurt, one more run on their offensive side of the ball (and) got the win.”

TV Take: Zags go to In-N-Out for victory

The Gonzaga Bulldogs, in general, needed a bounce-back game after their loss Thursday night to Saint Mary’s. Saturday night in Santa Clara both accomplished their goals as the Zags cruised to an eased-off 75-60 win behind Perkins’ 17-point night.

TV Take: Silas Melson responds in a big way for Gonzaga

For the fifth time in five games, the Gonzaga Bulldogs rolled to an easy West Coast Conference victory. But the players who keyed the win, and one who didn’t, were the biggest news on a night the Zags blew out Portland 103-57 before 6,000 at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

TV Take: Gonzaga’s late-night snoozer must have been bad for ratings

It’s easy to imagine the bigwigs at ESPN, those whose lives revolve around the rating numbers, hate blowouts. Especially when a game on one of their properties begins after 11 p.m. on an East Coast socked in with snow, possibly making such a late game a bit more attractive.

TV Take: ESPN crew struggled throughout Gonzaga-Creighton game

The 15th-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs rallied in the second half to run away from 25th-ranked Creighton on Friday, winning 91-74 at the McCarthey Athletic Center. It’s too bad others involved with the game that was broadcast into our homes couldn’t find their form after halftime as well.
