Gonzaga is expected to begin the 2021 basketball season roughly where it was positioned prior to Thursday’s cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Tournament.

Gonzaga and 2019 champion Virginia are co-favorites to win next year’s national championship, according to sportsbetting.ag. Both are listed at +900, meaning a successful $100 returns $900.

Kansas is next at +1000, followed by Kentucky at +1200. Creighton, Duke and Michigan State share fifth at +1400. Baylor is at +1600 with Florida State, North Carolina and Wisconsin at +2000.

San Diego State, at +2500, and Oregon, at +2800, are the only other teams from the West among the top 31 favorites on the board. Nine Big Ten teams, six ACC and five Big 12 made the list.

Top-ranked Kansas and No. 2 Gonzaga were generally considered the betting favorites in this year’s NCAA Tournament. The NCAA canceled the men’s and women’s tournaments due to the coronavirus outbreak.
