Josh Bristyan hit a grand slam and Jack Krauel added a three-run shot to power the Gonzaga Bulldogs (28-20) to a 22-4 victory on Sunday and a three-game nonconference sweep over the visiting Lamar Cardinals (16-34).
Krauel added a sacrifice fly and finished with four runs batted in. Ernie Yake had three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Daniel Fredrickson had a double among his three hits, knocking in three and scoring twice. Austin Pinorini also had a double and two singles, plating two runs and scoring twice.
Justin Blatner (2-3) allowed just two runs – one earned – on five hits and two walks, pitching 5 1/3 innings and fanning four to get the win.
Next up for the Bulldogs is a trip to Eugene to take on the Oregon Ducks on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs, who sit in second place one game behind BYU, close out West Coast Conference play beginning Friday at 6 p.m. in Los Angeles against fourth-place Loyola Marymount. BYU (17-7) closes out conference play at last-place Santa Clara (4-20) beginning Friday.
