Gonzaga’s legends are returning. And just in time for Hoopfest.
On Thursday, June 27, former Zags basketball stars Kelly Olynyk, Steven Gray, David Pendergraft and Heather Bowman will headline the second “Gonzaga Legends” event at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7.
It’s a chance to hear behind-the-scenes tales from the stars who helped put Gonzaga men’s and women’s basketball on the national map. The event is part of The Spokesman-Review’s Northwest Passages Series, and coincides with the 30th edition of Hoopfest, which tips off on June 29.
General admission tickets ($6) for “Gonzaga Legends” are available online at TicketsWest (www.ticketswest.com or 800-325-SEAT). A VIP ticket package is available for $60 and includes prime seating for the event, a private reception with players beforehand, a complimentary drink, appetizers, Gonzaga and Hoopfest swag and posters ready for autographs.
Olynyk, a power forward with the NBA’s Miami Heat, scored 17.8 points per game for Gonzaga during the 2012-13 season; Gray averaged 11.5 points over a four-year career that ended in 2011; Pendergraft became a Hoopfest legend after graduating from GU in ’08, winning five straight titles in the over-6-foot men’s division; and Bowman, also a former Hoopfest champion, was a 2010 graduate and holds the women’s all-time scoring record at GU.
Tickets will go fast, so order early. Last fall’s original “Gonzaga Legends,” featuring Casey Calvary, Dan Dickau, Adam Morrison and Matt Santangelo, drew a big crowd to the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.
