Grizzlies’ Pridgett, Anderson Sweep Big Sky Player of the Week Awards

Vince Bagby SWX
This week everyone is ready to turn the calendar to a new year and a new decade, but a couple of Montana basketball players certainly enjoyed the end to 2019 on the court and the Big Sky Conference has taken notice. Grizzly senior guard Sayeed Pridgett and Lady Griz sophomore forward Abby Anderson have both been named Big Sky Conference players of the week following the first week of league play. Pridgett averaged 20.5 points, 9 rebounds and 2.5 steals while leading Montana to wins over Northern Arizona and Sacramento State. It is Pridgett’s first time taking home the honor this season but it’s the fourth time in his career after he earned the award three times in a six week span last season. Meanwhile a little more surprising was the performance put in by Lady Griz sophomore Abby Anderson, one that has earned her Player of the Week honors on the women’s side of things. Anderson averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in Lady Griz victories against Northern Arizona and Sacramento State. Entering last week Andersen had never scored more than 11 points in a college game.
