Spokane Indians infielder Jonah McReynolds hit by three pitches in season-opening loss to Boise

UPDATED: Fri., June 15, 2018

An Opening Day loss wasn’t the only thing that stung Spokane Indians second baseman Jonah McReynolds.

In a 7-4 loss Friday to the Boise Hawks at Avista Stadium, McReynolds was hit by three pitches, each plunk from a different pitcher.

The Martinsville, Virginia native was hit in the left shoulder, left leg and left thigh.

“I don’t think I’ve been hit that many times ever,” McReynolds said. “The one that hit the back of my leg probably hurt the worst. But, hey, it’s part of the game.”

McReynolds said he thought it was odd being hit a third time, but didn’t think any of the pitchers had malicious intent.

“I didn’t take offense to it, no” McReynolds said. “And getting on base helps our team, so I’ll do whatever it takes to help us compete.”
