VANCOUVER, B.C – The Vancouver Canadians concluded a three-game sweep of Spokane, winning the series finale 8-3 on Sunday behind Riley Adams’ four-hit performance and sending the Indians to a sixth straight Northwest League loss.
Vancouver built an 8-0 lead through five innings.
Canadians right-hander Matt Shannon threw a 1-2-3 first inning before Dany Jimenez took over in the second and kept a perfect game going until Yohel Pozo and Andretty Cordero hit back-to-back doubles with two outs in the seventh to give Spokane its first run.
Curtis Terry added a two-run home run in the eighth, reducing the deficit to 8-3.
The Canadians struck early with an RBI double by Adams in the second.
Vancouver added three more runs in the third on two singles and two of the Canadians’ season-high five doubles.
Adams slugged a solo home run in the fourth.
Vancouver added three more runs in the fifth that included an RBI single by Adams.
The Canadians (8-3) had 15 hits and scored five of their runs against Indians starter Tyree Thompson (0-1), who pitched four innings.
Jimenez (1-0) had nine of Vancouver’s 11 strikeouts.
The Indians (3-8) return home to face the Tri-City Dust Devils (8-2) on Monday at 6:30 at Avista Stadium.
