Salem-Keizer outscore Spokane Indians 17-11

KEIZER, Ore. – Leo Rojas hit two home runs, drove in six runs and Salem-Keizer scored in every inning but two in outslugging the Spokane Indians 17-11 in Northwest League play on Sunday night.

Volcanoes collected 16 hits, seven for extra bases, and posted five-run innings in the first and third while scoring in each of the first six innings.

Salem-Keizer led the entire game after its five-run first despite three consecutive three-run innings for the Indians, who trailed 14-9 after four.

The 17 runs are the most scored against the Indians this season. Starter Tyler Phillips (3-4) took the brunt of the Volcanoes’ attack, giving up 11 runs, 10 earned, in 2 1/3 innings.

The Indians brought in shortstop Brallan Perez to make his pitching debut in the eighth and turned in Spokane’s only 1-2-3 inning, striking out two.

Carlos Garay had three of the nine hits, all singles, for the Indians, who received 13 walks.

The Indians made four errors.
