Around the nation: Brett Rypien leads Boise State past Wyoming

Brett Rypien (Shadle Park High) passed for 211 yards and three touchdowns and Jeremy McNichols rushed for 166 yards to lead Boise State to a 34-14 victory over Wyoming at home on Saturday night.

Boise State (6-2, 3-1), humbled in its worst Mountain West Conference loss in school history a week ago, needed the win to keep pace with Mountain Division-leading Utah State.

Wyoming (1-7, 1-3), which notched its first victory last week, suffered its largest defeat of the season.

The Cowboys’ Brian Hill, who entered the game ranked fourth in the nation in rushing, eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season and became the fastest to reach that plateau in school history.

Boise State’s defense held Hill to well less than his 140.7 yards-per-game average, limiting him to 76 yards on 23 carries

Arkansas 54, Auburn 46 (4OT): Brandon Allen threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Drew Morgan on the first play of the fourth overtime, also converting on the two-point conversion, to lead Arkansas to a win over Auburn at Fayetteville, Arkansas. The win is the first for the Razorbacks (3-4, 2-2 SEC) over former offensive coordinator and current Tigers (4-3, 1-3) coach Gus Malzahn in three games, and it keeps Arkansas’ bowl hopes alive. The game is the longest in major college football this season, according to STATS.

Navy 31, Tulane 14: Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds ran for a pair of touchdowns and the Midshipmen forced three straight turnovers in the second half for a victory over Tulane at Annapolis, Maryland. Reynolds is two shy of the NCAA record for rushing touchdowns set by former Wisconsin tailback Montee Ball (77) from 2009-2012. Navy (5-1, 3-0 AAC) entered the game ranked third nationally with 335.4 yards rushing per game but was held to just 133 as Tulane (2-5, 1-3) stacked nine players in the box.

Air Force 42, Fresno State 14: Quarterback Karson Roberts rushed for four touchdowns and caught another on a trick play, helping Air Force overcome a sluggish start to beat Fresno State at Air Force Academy, Colorado. Roberts’ five total touchdowns ties for the second-most in school history, one behind the mark set by QB Dee Dowis in 1989. In addition to four short scoring runs, Roberts also hauled in a 20-yard TD pass from receiver Jalen Robinette to help the Falcons (4-3, 3-1 Mountain West) roll to their 10th straight home win. Fresno State (2-6, 1-4) jumped out to a 14-0 lead on long runs by Marteze Waller and Dustin Garrison, only to have the Falcons respond with 42 unanswered points.
