HILLSBORO, Ore. – Tyler Sanchez slugged a two-out, three-run homer to tie the game in the ninth and the Spokane Indians scored twice in the 11th to snare a 6-5 victory over the Hillsboro Hops in Northwest League play Sunday.
The Indians loaded the bases with two out in the 11th on two walks and a single off Brody Greer (0-1). Sanchez came home from third on a wild pitch and Diego Cedeno scored on a passed ball.
Zach Hoffpauir homered to lead off the Hops’ 11th and Hillsboro put two runners one with one out before third baseman Ti’Quan Forbes threw out consecutive batters at first base. Luis Parra (5-1) got the win with 21/3 innings of relief.
The Indians ended a streak of 19 scoreless innings when they scored four times in the ninth. With reliever Troy Marks taking over in the ninth for Hillsboro, Leon Byrd doubled and Yeyson Yrizarri singled, sending Byrd to third. Dylan Moore followed with a single that scored Byrd.
Ryan Burr replaced Marks and got two outs before Sanchez hit his three-run homer to left.
The Indians lost the first three games of the series, scoring just one run in each of the first two games before being shut out on Saturday.
The Indians had only three hits through eight innings but finished with nine. Yrizarri had three and Cedeno two. By game’s end, they had struck out 14 times.
