Power outage postpones Indians

EUGENE, Ore. – For the second time in four days, unusual circumstances will force the Spokane Indians to play two doubleheaders in five days.

A power failure before the top of the fourth inning at PK Park in Eugene forced Monday’s game to be suspended with the Emeralds ahead 2-1. The game will resume at 5 p.m. today with the regularly schedule game, shortened to seven innings, 30 minutes after the completion.

The bank of lights that cover the infield failed.

The hazardous levels of smoke in the air in Spokane last Friday caused the Indians to postpone their game with Vancouver and it will be made up on Friday. Doubleheader game time is 5 p.m.

Spokane took a 1-0 lead on Eugene when Darius Day led off the game with a walk, advanced to second on a while pitch and scored on a double by Sherman Lacrus.

However, Eloy Jimenez hit his fifth homer after Donnie Dewees singled off Cody Palmquist to start the bottom of the first.
