Roundup: Mead claims District 8 4A soccer crown

Ian Farley scored from 22 yards out off a pass from Colin Shockman at 67 minutes Wednesday as Mead (10-2) defeated Ferris 2-1 in the District 8 4A championship match at Albi Stadium.

Jordan Etten scored at 22 minutes for Mead, which earned the No. 1 seed to regionals.

Sam Butler of the Saxons (12-3) tied the match at 55 minutes.

Ferris will meet Lewis and Clark at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Albi for regional seeding.

Lewis and Clark 2, Central Valley 1: Kevin Dunham fed Jamal Angell for the winning goal at 75 minutes as the Tigers (9-7) eliminated the Bears (7-6) at Albi. LC struck at 5 minutes when Christian Foster assisted on Rhys Gentle’s goal. CV’s Nasri Herring tied the match 3 minutes later.

District 8 3A

University 3, Mt. Spokane 0: Zach Allert scored a pair of first-half goals to lead the Titans (7-6) past the Wildcats (7-7) in the championship match at Albi. Mt. Spokane will play Saturday at Big Nine No. 3. Big Nine No. 2 and 4 will also meet Saturday, with the winner playing at U-Hi on Wednesday.

District 7 1A

Lakeside 2, Colville 0: Tucker Fitzpatrick and Donovan Dewey scored to carry the Eagles (7-10-1) past the Indians (8-4-1) at Gonzaga Prep. Both teams will host tri-district matches at 3 p.m. Saturday.
