Women’s basketball roundup: Griner’s 40 pace Baylor

Brittney Griner scored 40 points and combined with Odyssey Sims in the game-clinching run as top-seeded Baylor advanced to the Dallas Regional championship with an 86-76 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay on Sunday.

The Lady Bears (34-2) led only 52-49 before Griner made a short baseline shot over two defenders with just over 13 minutes left. Sims then hit consecutive 3-pointers and ended the spurt with a steal and breakaway layup. They combined for all the points in a 14-0 spurt.

Kayla Tetschlag had 27 points for Green Bay (34-2), which had won 25 games in a row.

Texas A&M 79, Georgia 38: Danielle Adams had 23 points and 14 rebounds and the Aggies built a 31-point halftime lead and cruise to a victory to earn a spot in the Dallas Regional final.

Texas A&M (30-5) led 13-0 and was up 27-2 with just under 10 minutes to play in the first half.

Jasmine James scored 10 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs (23-11).

Connecticut 68, Georgetown 63: Maya Moore had 23 points and 14 rebounds to help the Huskies (35-1) rally from a seven-point second-half deficit in the Philadelphia Regional semifinals.

Monica McNutt scored 17 points for Georgetown (24-11).

Duke 70, DePaul 63: Karima Christmas had 23 points and nine rebounds, and Jasmine Thomas scored 19 points to help the Blue Devils (32-3) reach the Philadelphia Regional final.

Deirde Naughton scored 17 points for the Blue Demons (29-7), who has never played in a regional final.
