It was a banner day for Brooke Randall and the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch on Saturday at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges tournament in Kennewick.
Randall ripped the nets for a game-high 31 points – nailing 11 of 21 shots from the floor including 4 of 8 from 3-point range – to lead CC Spokane (21-6) to a 71-59 first-round victory over the Whatcom Orcas (17-10). Randall set a Sasquatch single-season scoring record with 548 points (20.3 per-game average) en route to becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer (947).
The Sasquatch play the Lower Columbia Red Devils (22-4) at 2 p.m. in today’s second round.
Korrie Bourn chipped in with 18 points, 14 rebounds and five assists for CC Spokane.
(9) UCLA 66, Washington State 48: Jasmine Dixon scored 17 points and the Bruins (26-3, 16-2) cruised past the Cougars (8-22, 6-12) in Pacific-10 Conference play in Los Angeles in the final game at Pauley Pavilion before it closes for a renovation project.
Darxia Morris added 15 points for the Bruins, who set school records for total victories and conference wins.
Carly Noyes paced the Cougars with 10 points. WSU has never won in 22 games at UCLA’s longtime home.
Montana 66, Eastern Washington 60: Katie Baker came off the bench to toss in a team-high 18 points and grab seven rebounds as the Grizzlies (15-14, 10-6) cruised past the Eagles (12-17, 8-8) in a Big Sky Conference regular-season finale in Cheney.
Brianne Ryan buried 4 of 5 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 22 points for the Eagles. Tatjana Sparavalo added 12 points for Eastern, while Julie Piper tallied eight points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Louisiana Tech 65, Idaho 55: Adrienne Johnson had a double-double – 26 points, 13 rebounds – to power the Techsters (23-6, 15-1) to the Western Athletic Conference regular-season title with a win over the Vandals (14-14, 7-9) in Ruston, La.
Reserve Alyssa Charlston led the Vandals with 10 points.
