Eastern Washington Eagles basketball outlook

RECORD: 4-9 overall, 1-1 Big Sky

COMING UP: Tonight at Seattle University, 7:10; Saturday at Portland State, 7:05 p.m.

OUTLOOK: This week’s most important test comes Saturday, when the Eagles face Big Sky rival Portland State, which was a preseason pick of conference coaches to finish seventh in this year’s BSC race – one place behind EWU. The Vikings, who lead the Big Sky in scoring, have four players – Chris Harriel (16.1), Charles Odum (13.5), Chehales Tapscott (12.7) and Melvin Jones (11.8) – averaging more than 10 points per game. EWU has been paced by sophomore guards Jeffrey Forbes (13.6 ppg) and Kevin Winford (12.4 ppg), and boasts the Big Sky’s No. 1 rebounder in junior Cliff Ederaine (8.5 rpg).
