Big Sky roundup: Bobcats outlast Hornets

Julius Lloyd caught eight passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns, the last one forcing overtime, as Montana State earned a wild 64-61 victory over Sacramento State on Saturday in Sacramento, Calif.

Jason Cunningham made a 25-yard field goal in overtime for the Bobcats. Sacramento State failed to score in the extra session when Chris Diniz missed wide left from 43 yards out.

The lead changed hands four times in the fourth quarter before Lloyd caught an 8-yard scoring pass from Denarius McGhee with 1:17 remaining. McGhee was 26 of 43 for 385 yards and four TDs.

Jeff Fleming threw for 348 yards and five scores and Bryan Hilliard rushed for 194 yards and two TDs for the Hornets, who trailed 37-10 at halftime but scored TDs on five third-quarter possessions to take a 45-44 lead.

C.J. Palmer rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns for Montana State.

Montana 30, Northern Colorado 7: Justin Roper threw two TD passes and ran for a third score and Chase Reynolds added 105 rushing yards and a TD to lead the Grizzlies over the Bears in Greeley, Colo.

Roper scored on a 12-yard run in the first quarter and threw TD passes to Antwon Moutra and Bryce Carver in the second to help the Grizzlies build a 24-0 halftime lead.

Matt Baca threw a TD pass to Patrick Walker with 13:01 left to prevent the shutout.

Northern Arizona 26, Southern Utah 23: Zach Bauman caught a 15-yard TD pass from Michael Herrick with 3:07 left to lift the Lumberjacks over the Thunderbirds (1-4) in Cedar City, Utah.

Bauman also scored on a 3-yard run for the Lumberjacks, finishing with 109 yards rushing, while Herrick completed 23 of 35 passes for 244 yards.

Austin Minefee had 140 yards rushing and two touchdowns for Southern Utah (1-4).

Portland State 38, Idaho State 3: Connor Kavanaugh passed for 216 yards and ran for 125 more to lead the Vikings past the Bengals in Hillsboro, Ore.

Kavanaugh completed 15 of 19 passes and threw two touchdowns for the Vikings. Cory McCaffrey added 166 yards rushing and a touchdown on 24 carries, as Portland State piled up 531 yards of offense.
