College football: Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle (pictured) is expected to play on Saturday in the regular-season finale against Utah State in Moscow.
Enderle has missed the last two games with a rotator cuff injury. Idaho (7-4, 4-3 WAC) lost both games, and is coming off a bye week. Brian Reader started in his place.
Coach Robb Akey said Enderle is throwing better and will play on Saturday. Enderle is second in the WAC in passing efficiency, and has thrown for 2,404 yards and completed 62 percent of his passes.
Eastern hosts Boise tonight
College basketball: Eastern Washington will try to build on the momentum generated by Saturday’s 72-68 road win over Texas Arlington tonight when the Eagles entertain Boise State in a non-conference men’s game that tips off at 7:05 at Reese Court.
The Eagles (2-2) used a career-high 24 points from freshman Jeffrey Forbes to turn back Arlington, despite the absence of injured starters Matt Brunell (ankle) and Kevin Winford (concussion), who are expected to return tonight.
BSU (2-2), which lost to Wyoming 87-61 in Laramie on Saturday night, is paced offensively by La’Shard Anderson, who is averaging 17.3 points per game. But three other Broncos starters are also averaging more than 10 points per game.
Pac-10 honors Cougars guard
College basketball: Washington State sophomore Klay Thompson had been named the Pacific-10 Conference men’s player of the week for his performances against Eastern Washington and Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne.
Thompson scored 24 points in the WSU’s 67-61 win over Eastern on Nov. 16 and then hit for a career-high 37 against IPFW on Thursday in the 89-70 WSU victory.
Nichols earns Big Sky honor
College football: Eastern Washington quarterback Matt Nichols was named the Big Sky Conference co-offensive player of the week for his performance against Northern Arizona on Saturday.
Nichols, a senior from Cottonwood, Calif., passed for 408 yards and five touchdowns as Eastern beat NAU 49-47 and earned an at-large berth in the Football Championship Series playoffs. The Eagles travel to Nacogdoches, Texas, to play Stephen F. Austin on Saturday at noon.
Nichols shares the offensive award with NAU quarterback Michael Herrick.
Montana punt returner Marc Mariani (special teams) and Weber State linebacker Nick Webb (defensive) were also honored.
