University of Idaho’s success on the football field this fall has been rewarded again, this time on an individual basis.

The Vandals, selected Sunday for the school’s first bowl appearance since 1998, found out Monday that seven players have been honored by the Western Athletic Conference.

Offensive lineman Mike Iupati and safety Shiloh Keo, both seniors, are first-team All-WAC. Iupati was second-team in 2008.

They were among the leaders on an Idaho team, picked to finish in the league basement, that ascented to a 7-5 record and trip to the Humanitarian Bowl Dec. 30 in Boise against Bowling Green.

Receiver Max Komar and offensive lineman Irv Stevens, both seniors; defensive end Aaron Lavarias and linebacker JoJo Dickson Jr., both juniors; and freshman kicker Trey Farquhar were second-team All-WAC picks.

Boise State’s Chris Petersen, whose 13-0 Broncos are ranked No. 6 and headed to the Fiesta Bowl, was named WAC coach of the year for a second straight season and six Broncos earned first-team all-conference honors.

Broncos quarterback Kellen Moore was the offensive player of the year and named to the first team. He led the nation in passing efficiency with a rating of 167.3 and is No. 2 in touchdowns with 39.

Other first-team Broncos are receivers Austin Pettis and Titus Young, offensive lineman Nate Potter, defensive end Ryan Winterswyk and cornerback Kyle Wilson. Young was also named the top special teams player.

Nevada’s Dontay Moch was the defensive player of the year.
