By Compiled From Wire Services

Tom Lehman shot a 67 in the second round of the Mercedes Championship in Carlsbad, Calif., to be at 11-under-par 133, two strokes ahead of Jim Furyk and four better than Tiger Woods, Davis Love III and Guy Boros.

Lehman now has played his last six rounds on the PGA Tour 23-under-par and has been the leader after all six.

At a banquet later, Lehman, who also set a money-winning record in 1996, was voted player of the year by PGA Tour members. Woods was honored as rookie of the year. Jim Colbert was selected as the top player on the Senior PGA Tour.

Annika Sorenstam, the two-time defending U.S. Open champion, and Barb Mucha shot 66s to pull within one stroke of Karrie Webb midway through the season-opening LPGA Tournament of Champions at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
