About the time rookie nerves were getting the best of Tim Herron, he birdied two of the last three holes to shoot an even-par 72 and take a three-stroke lead in the Honda Classic.
Herron, who completed the third round at 202, will be paired today with New Zealand’s Michael Campbell, who shot a 68 to reach 11-under on the TPC at Eagle Trace.
Mark O’Meara, who won the Mercedes Championship to start the year, shot a 7-under 65 to get to 10-under 206, tied with Mark McCumber. Nick Price and Payne Stewart are another two strokes back.
