Dawn Reigns In Rain

Dawn Coe-Jones, who has played some of her best golf in wet conditions, shot a 68 on the rain-swept Grand Cypress Resort course at Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and opened up to a three-stroke lead over Liselotte Neumann after three rounds of the $700,000 LPGA Tournament of Champions.

Coe, who fashioned her 4-under-par round with four birdies and no bogeys, has a 54-hole total of 4-under-par 212. Neumann, who shot 71, was the nearest pursuer at 215. Betsy King (71) and second-round leader Beth Daniel (74) were next at 216, followed by Martha Nause (69), Helen Alfredsson (70) and Laura Davies (71) at 217.

John Morse shot his second consecutive 7-under 65 at Honolulu and took a two-stroke lead after three rounds of the $1.2 million Hawaiian Open.

Morse’s 15-under 201 was two strokes better than Chip Beck, who stormed into second place with a 66 and a three-round total of 203. Second-round leader Duffy Waldorf is third at 204 after a 71.

Jim Colbert fired a 6-under-par 66 and moved into a share of the lead with Lee Trevino at 138 after two rounds of the Senior Tournament of Champions at Dorado, Puerto Rico.
