Mariners drop series finale to Astros, 8-3

Mariners now tied with A's in AL Wild Card Mariners now tied with A's in AL Wild Card

The Seattle Mariners dropped the series finale to the Houston Astros, 8-3 on Wednesday afternoon. Earlier on Wednesday, the Oakland Athletics completed a three-game sweep over Toronto Blue Jays and are now tied with the Mariners for the final American League Wild Card spot.

The Astros got on the scoreboard first in the second inning by home runs from both Marwin Gonzalez and Jake Marisnick. Houston would then score one run in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning on their way to the victory.

Mariners starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc gave up ten hits and seven earned runs in 4.1 innings pitch on the way to his second loss of the season.

Seattle will begin a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays beginning on Thursday at Safeco Field.
