CHENEY, Wash. – Former Eastern Washington University women's basketball standout Delaney Hodgins will continue her playing career overseas professionally with the Espoo Basket Team in Espoo, Finland, as announced today (July 31).

"I am so grateful to be able to get this opportunity to continue my basketball career as a professional," said Hodgins. "I get to do what I love while seeing the world."

The Pasco, Wash., native began her career as the 2014-15 Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year and ended her time at Eastern Washington as the all-time leading scorer with 2,120 career points. She is the first EWU player to ever eclipse the 2,000-point mark which places her third all-time on the BSC's career scoring list.

Hodgins made first-team all-conference as a junior and senior after receiving a second-team nod as a sophomore. On March 2, 2018 against Northern Arizona, she set EWU's and the Big Sky's single game scoring record of 46 points while going 7-for-7 behind the arc, also a program and conference record. Her 692 points during the 2017-18 campaign is also an EWU single-season record.

She appeared in and started all 129 games during her career, scoring in double figures in 107 of them. This season, she accumulated a double-digit scoring streak of 27 straight games. She totaled over 20 points in 17 games, over 30 in four and over 40 in one. She wrapped up her career with 15 double-doubles and 16 career double-figure rebounding games.

Additionally, she helped the Eagles place no lower than fourth-place in the Big Sky standings all four years and led EWU to the second round of the WNIT as a freshman and the second round of the Women's Basketball Invitational as a junior.

As a senior, Hodgins was named a Senior CLASS Award Finalist and made the second team. She was also tabbed a CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District VII and was Eastern's NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.

"It's a big week for Delaney. She signs a professional contract and is getting married, wow," said EWU head coach Wendy Schuller. "I am really excited for her new adventure and know she will be a great addition to her team in Finland. It's great to see her carry on the tradition of Eagles playing overseas and can't wait to follow her and the team."

Hodgins recently graduated from EWU with a degree in health informatics technology and management along with a minor in health services management. She boasted an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.86 and was selected to the Big Sky Conference Winter All-Academic team all four years during her tenure. Her and her fiancé, former Eastern Washington All-Conference safety, Zach Bruce, are set to get married this Saturday, Aug. 4, before heading overseas.
