Crouse cruises to first win, 5-2 over Everett

Indians win fourth straight game Indians win fourth straight game

SPOKANE, Wash. - Hans Crouse pitched five scoreless innings, Spokane blasted three home runs, and the Indians defeated the Everett AquaSox 5-2 for their fourth straight victory on Jersey Off the Back & Grand Slam F-150 Sweepstakes presented by Gus Johnson Ford and 103.1 KCDA.

For the second straight night, Spokane posted a crooked number in the first inning. Juan Pablo Martinez manufactured the first run with his legs. He led off with an infield single, stole second, advanced to third on a groundball, and came in to score on a sacrifice fly from Miguel Aparicio. Everett starter Orlando Razo thought he would get out of the inning with just the one run, but the Indians had other ideas. Diosbel Arias and Curtis Terry smacked back-to-back solo homers to give Spokane a 3-0 first inning lead. For Terry, he now has six long balls on the year to lead the NWL.

Hans Crouse took it from there. Making his Avista Stadium debut, Crouse picked up his first professional victory after throwing five scoreless innings. The 2017 second round pick allowed just two hits and struck out six.

Everett would score a run off Indians' reliever Reggie Meyer in the sixth, but Spokane responded quickly. In the seventh, Obie Ricumstrict hit Spokane's third homer of the night and eighth of the current homestand to extend the lead, 4-1.

Blake Bass put up two more zeroes in relief for the Indians. He has allowed just one hit in six scoreless innings this season.

The Indians would add another run in the bottom of the eighth with a two-out Redband Rally. Cristian Inoa lined one back up the middle for his third hit of the night. He would come around to score after two walks and a wild pitch, giving Spokane a 5-1 lead.

Emmanuel Clase gave up a run in the ninth after a couple infield singles, but ended up closing the door on the AquaSox, securing the Indians' fourth consecutive victory and guaranteeing a second straight series win.

Spokane will go for their first sweep of the year Thursday night for Yoke's $1 Family Feast Night presented by Yoke's Fresh Market and 92.9 ZZU. Hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches and select Pepsi products are only $1.00 all night long! Stick around after the game to participate in the Taco Bell Ball Toss benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Spokane and Kootenai County. The game starts at 6:30 PM with gates opening at 5:30 PM. Tickets for all Spokane Indians home games are available to purchase at the Avista Stadium Ticket Office or at spokaneindians.com.
