Two Americans players and two best friends

TRI-CITIES, WA - It's no secret that the Americans have two of hockey's biggest and brightest prospects with Michael Rasmussen and Juuso Valimaki.

But what you might not know is that they have a very unique friendship.

"Well at first, for a shy Finnish guy to come up here and play hockey, it was a little bit weird to have a roommate and some guy that actually talked to you and spend time with," said Juuso Valimaki, Americans Defenseman. "But after days and after weeks it was, I think, great for both of us, and we just became really good friends."

After living with each other for a year, the boys decided to do it again, but this time it would be with Valimaki's family.

"I started to think that life here might be so good and Juuso was so young when he moved here last year," said Mai Valimaki, Juuso's mother. "And I was thinking that maybe I should live here with him, and this might be once in lifetime experience for me and for Juuso's brothers, and after that it was so easy decision."

From the ice rink, to the living room rink, these guys are all hockey, all the time.

"They know exactly what this means and what they have to do everyday," Valimaki's mother said, "but they are so humble and they both know what to do and they can do all that together."

"I don't think there's any competition," said Michael Rasmussen, Americans Forward. "No, I think it's each of us have goals and each of us wanna help each other get there. If there is competition, it's healthy, and we just push each other to be better and are happy for each other's success."
