Dawson Weatherill turned away 44 shots and Kailer Yamamoto’s goal 40 seconds into the third period proved to be the game winner as the Spokane Chiefs used a 2 goal third on their way to a 3-1 win at Seattle Tuesday night. Yamamoto’s goal snapped a 1-1 tie and was his team leading 4th tally of the season. With the win, Spokane is now tied with Seattle for 4th place in the U.S. Division.

Spokane was out shot 13-7 in the first period, but Weatherill kept Seattle off the board to keep it a scoreless game after one. The Chiefs would break the ice 6 minutes into the second period with Jaret Anderson-Dolan found Pavel Kousal for his 2nd goal of the season to make it 1-0 Spokane. Jordan Henderson also picked up his first point of the year with an assist. Seattle would even the game on a Scott Eansor goal off a 4 on 4 situation just over 10 minutes later to send the game to the third tied at 1.

Yamamoto would get the game winner on a feed from his brother Keanu and snapped home the winner from the left side. Evan Fiala also got an assist for his first point of the season. Spokane would close the scoring on a Curtis Miske empty net goal in the final seconds, as Weatherill stopped all 19 Seattle shots in the third to preserve the win. Spokane went a perfect 4-4 on the penalty kill, including knocking off 2 Thunderbirds power plays in the third. Seattle out shot Spokane 45-22 in the game but the Chiefs were able to snap a 2 year losing streak at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
