Mattress Firm: Student Athlete of the Week Erin Lincoln

Posted: Updated:

If Great Falls Central's Erin Lincoln isn't setting up her teammates on the volleyball court, you can find the Mustangs captain ready and willing to restore her community.

"There are a lot of people out there that need your help and if you're in a position where you can help them then it's important for us to do that," Lincoln said.

When she's not involved in Key Club and student government at GFCC, she's teaching youth around Montana about the negative effects of drug and alcohol abuse.

Lincoln added, "I'm on the youth advisory board and we try and plan events, fun things that you can do where you don't have to be drinking or high."

Earlier this year, Lincoln went to Washington D.C. to represent the substance abuse prevention alliance; a group that finds safe activities for youth to do instead of getting involved with drugs and alcohol. She even met with Montana senators about signing a bill that could help the treasure state's prescription drug abuse problem.

"Tester on video actually promised he would sign that bill so we did a little bit of good there," she said.

Her selfless attitude also translates over to the volleyball court. Head Coach Danielle Baeth says Erin is the first one there whenever the team needs a pick-me-up.

"She's that type of teammate where when you're running conditioning and there are a couple girls left to finish she goes and runs with those girls to finish," Baeth said. "she's a class act."
