Quoting Coach Schuller

On today's game:

I thought we flowed for about eight minutes today, and the rest of the time it felt like we were trying to pull our own teeth out. We made baskets when we needed to, and we turned up the defensive intensity in the second half. We did what we needed to do to win the game.

On Hayley becoming the program's all-time leading scorer:

It's deserved, and it couldn't happen to a more special person. I saw a picture recently of Hayley five years ago when she was a true freshman and it made me think about all of the people she's played with and how much she's grown up. It's been my pleasure and my honor to get to coach her. She just has never caused me a bad time or bad day in my life. Every day, I know she is going to bring it. I have an extreme amount of trust in her. She can come to me and say, 'Coach, can we run this play?' and I'm going to listen to her. She probably knows our stuff better than I do now.

On what Hayley has brought to the EWU program outside of scoring:

Points are wonderful, but the mentality and mindset of being a winner and bringing that to the table is what Hayley has brought to our program. It's been tremendous for us, especially this year with six freshmen, to have a leader like her. She's nurturing, but will get on our other players when she needs to. For her teammates to play hard and support her is a testament to her leadership and who she is. As a scorer, the thing that is special about her is that we don't run a lot of sets for her. She has scored her points within what we do offensively. Part of the reason that she's become such a great scorer is that we don't need to run things for her. She's been able to score within what we do, and that's allowed her teammates to score and develop their games, which is a huge part of winning.
