SPOKANE, Wash. - Four different players scored goals and goaltender Tyson Verhelst turned aside 28 of 29 shots faced on Friday night as the Spokane Chiefs beat the visiting Swift Current Broncos, 4-1. The win pushes Spokane's record to 11-8-2-1.

The Chiefs got the scoring underway at the 11:34 mark of the first period as Curtis Miske sprung Jacob Cardiff for a partial breakaway after creating a turnover at the Swift Current blue line. Cardiff backhanded the puck between goalie Travis Child's legs for his second goal of the season.

Spokane extended the lead to 2-0 midway through the second frame as forward Adam Helewka snapped one over Child's shoulder from just inside the right circle. It was Helewka's seventh goal of the year, with assists from Kailer Yamamoto and Tyson Helgesen.

The Broncos threatened briefly and cut the lead in half three minutes into the third period as Calvin Spencer punched in a rebound created by Cavin Leth. The goal was Spokane's first shorthanded goal allowed this season.

Miske earned his second point of the night under three minutes later, chipping in a perfect cross-crease pass from rookie forward Ethan McIndoe to beat Child and push the lead to 3-1.

Austrian winger Dominic Zwerger found the net for an insurance goal with under a minute remaining off a feed from Helewka.

Both teams finished 0 for 3 on the power play. Spokane outshot the Broncos 44-29.

The Chiefs remain at home tomorrow night for their second game in a row against an East Division opponent as they host the Moose Jaw Warriors. It will be Itron Team Poster Giveaway Night and Post-Game Autograph Session.
