Chiefs Cap Road Trip With 8-1 Win in Tri-City

Spokane scored 4 goals in the second period and Matt Berlin came away with 25 saves to pick up his first career win as the Chiefs capped a 6 game road trip with an 8-1 victory over the Tri City Americans Saturday night in Kennewick. Spokane finished 4-1-1 on the road swing as the Chiefs record is now 8-7-2-1 and with 19 points sits second in the U.S. Division, 2 points back of division leading Seattle.

Evan Fiala scored his second career goal at 10:30 of the first period from Nik Andersen and Dalton Hamiliuk to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead after one. In the second, Curtis Miske scored his 3rd of the season from Keanu Yamamoto and Riley Whittingham at 2:36 to make it 2-0. Dominic Zwerger then notched Spokane's second short handed goal of the year at 4:40 from Jason Fram and Miske to put the Chiefs ahead 3-0. Tri City's Parker Bowles power play goal spoiled the shutout for Berlin less than a minute later, but Spokane's Jacob Cardiff put home his first of the season from Ethan McIndoe and Fiala to give the Chiefs a 3 goal lead. Adam Helewka capped a 4 goal second with his 5th goal in 6 games since returning to Spokane from Hamiliuk and Zwerger as the Chiefs were up 5-1 after two. Spokane outshot Tri City 19-6 in the decisive second period.

Spokane continued to add to the lead in the third as Andersen notched his first multi-goal game. His first of the period at 3:28 from Fram made it 6-1. Andersen's 4th of the season from Fiala and Kolten Olynek extended the lead to 7-1. Keanu Yamamoto capped the scoring with his 4th of the year from Whittingham and Miske at 18:06 as Spokane scored the most goals in a game this season. The Chiefs outshot Tri City 36-26 in the game, as Miske, Andersen, and Fiala all finished with career high 3 point nights.

The Chiefs will now return home to host the Everett Silvertips Wednesday night at 7:05pm. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA starting with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.
