The Spokane Chiefs saw a 4 goal lead in the second period disappear as the Kamloops Blazers scored 5 unanswered goals, including the game winner in overtime, to hand the Chiefs a 5-4 OT loss Tuesday night in Kamloops, B.C. The loss snapped Spokane's season high 3 game win streak and dropped the Chiefs to 7-7-2-1 on the season.

Spokane took a 1-0 lead in the first when Dominic Zwerger scored his 5th goal of the season at 15:40 of the period. Zwerger's first goal since October 6th was assisted by Kailer Yamamoto and Adam Helewka. Helewka would score his 3rd goal in 5 games just 3:33 into the second period to extend the Chiefs lead to 2-0. Luke Harrison would notch his second of the season with a tip at 4:07 to put Spokane ahead 3-0 and then Zwerger would score his second of the game at 5:39 to give the Chiefs a 4-0 lead.

Spokane would lose starting goaltender Tyson Verhelst shortly after that goal to an apparent head injury after he was hit by the goal retrieving a puck. The Blazers scored two goals late in the second on back-up Matt Berlin, who was in his first game since facing Kamloops on October 17th, as the Chiefs lead was cut to 4-2 after two periods. Kamloops would score on a power play just 23 seconds into the third to make it 4-3, and another power play tally at 3:44 would tie the game at four.

The game would head to overtime, where Kamloops Collin Shirley would score his team high 8th of the season at 1:42 of the period to cap the Blazer comeback. The loss left Spokane 3-1-1 on their 6 game road trip. The Chiefs did gain a point on first place Seattle, as Spokane is now 2 points back of the Thunderbirds for the top spot in the U.S. Division. Zwerger finished the night with 2 goals, his second 2 goal effort of the season. Helewka had a goal and two assists, while Kailer Yamamoto had a 3 assist night.

Spokane will finish the road trip Saturday in Tri Cities when they face the Americans at 7:05pm.
