Adam Helewka scored two goals in his second game back with Spokane as the Chiefs scored 4 goals in the second period on their way to a 6-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen Thursday night in Calgary, Alberta. With the win, Spokane improved to 5-7-1-1 with 12 points are now tied for second place in the U.S. Division. 

After a scoreless first period, Calgary scored on a Jackson Houck power play goal early in the second to take a 1-0 lead. Riley Whittingham would score his third of the season on a power play tally off a Matt Sozanski at 4:14 to tie the game at one. Helewka would notch his first of the season 39 seconds later on a backhander to give Spokane a 2-1 lead. Calgary would re-tie the game on a Radel Fazleev shot at 7:52, but Helewka would score his second of the night on Spokane's first shorthanded goal of the year at 10:03 to give the Chiefs a 3-2 advantage. Curtis Miske would net his second of the season at 17:44 to put Spokane up 4-2. Calgary would score in the final minute of the period to cut the Chiefs lead to 4-3 entering the third.

Markson Bechtold would score for the second straight game with a backhander at the 12 minute mark of the third to give the Chiefs a 5-3 lead. Nik Andersen then sealed the win with his second goal in as many nights at 16:13 to cap the 6-3 victory. Spokane outshot Calgary 29-19 in the contest, going 1-2 on the power play and 6-7 on the penalty kill. 

The Chiefs are now 1-1 on their 6 game road trip and will travel to Red Deer Friday night to face the Rebels at 6pm Pacific Time. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA starting with the pre-game show at 5:30pm.
