SPOKANE, Wash. - New and returning Spokane Chiefs players and prospects filed into Spokane Arena on Wednesday morning to check in as the organization will kick off its 2015 Annual Fall Camp on Thursday. Sixty players will participate in camp this season, including six goaltenders, 20 defensemen and 34 forwards.

The Chiefs’ hockey staff, including scouts, management and coaches, use fall camp as an evaluation period, focusing especially on the large group of young prospects looking to make an impression. This year’s camp includes 19 players born in 2000, 15 in 1999, nine in 1998, six in 1997, seven in 1996 and four in 1995.

Players converge in Spokane from around the western United States and Canada. Of all Canadian provinces, Alberta leads with 19 prospects calling it home. Saskatchewan is next with 11, followed by Manitoba with nine and British Columbia with eight. Six players are from right here in Washington, led by returning brothers Keanu and Kailer Yamamoto. Rounding out the player pool are prospects from California (two), Colorado (two) and Iowa (one). European imports Dominic Zwerger (Austria) and Niklas Andersen (Denmark) hopped the Atlantic Ocean on their way to camp this season.

Ice sessions for the Chiefs’ 2015 Annual Fall Camp begin Thursday with the first scrimmage scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The full ice session schedule with scrimmage times is available here. All ice sessions are free and open to the public. Fans are asked to enter Spokane Arena through the southeast entrance, near the Chiefs’ Ticket Office.
