MOSCOW, Idaho – Former Vandal point guard Mike Scott will be playing in a different venue in 2015-16, as he signed with BC Siauliai of the Lithuanian Basketball League on Tuesday.

A true point guard, Scott’s greatest strength was as a distributor.  He led the Big Sky Conference with 5.3 assists per game, while his assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.33 was the best in the league and fifth best in the nation.  For his efforts, Scott earned All-Big Sky Conference Second Team honors.

“It’s a great deal for Mike Scott, I couldn’t be happier for him and his family,” said head coach Don Verlin.  “It’s a lifetime dream of his to play professional basketball.”

Scott’s 160 assists last season are the fifth most in a single season in program history, while his 235 career helpers are 11th most.  Scott dished out a career-best 10 assists against Portland State on January 17, 2015, becoming just the 11th Vandal in program history to record double-digit assists in a game.

A senior captain in 2014-15, Scott started 29 games and finished second on the team in scoring at 14.0 points per contest.  He scored in double-figures 22 times, the second highest mark on the team.

“As Vandal fans know, Mike was an excellent player here, a very good point guard and was one of the best in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio,” Verlin said.  “Again, we just couldn’t be happier for him and his family for his opportunity to play after college.”

Scott played in all 34 games for the Vandals during his junior season, averaging 8.7 points and 2.2 assists per game.  He earned the team’s George Greene Award, given annually to the most unselfish player.

Prior to his time at Idaho, Scott played for Antelope Valley College, where he earned California All-State honors as a sophomore.

Originally from Tulsa, Okla., Scott played his high school ball for George Washington Prep in Los Angeles, where he earned two league MVP and one All-Los Angeles City honors.

BC Siauliai plays in the Lithuanian Basketball League, where it finished last season in seventh.  Siauliai also competes in the Baltic Basketball League, where it is the two-time defending Elite Division champion.
