Pangos Signs With Spanish Team Gran Canaria

Kevin Pangos is running right to Spain to begin his pro career. Kevin Pangos is running right to Spain to begin his pro career. -- Former Gonzaga star Kevin Pangos signed his firs professional contract with Herbalife CB Gran Canaria of Las Palmas, Spain in the Liga ACB, the top league in Spain. 

Pangos had joined the Dallas Mavericks for the Las Vegas portion of the NBA Summer League, and was making an impact for Dallas averaging 5.3 points and 4.7 assists in 27.5 minutes per game, but after the Mavs signed NBA veteran Deron Williams the Canadian national looked like he was pushed out of contention to make the full roster.

As a senior at Gonzaga in 2014-15, Pangos was named the WCC Player of the year. He started all 38 games for the Zags and helped lead the team to its second-ever Elite Eight, averaging 11.6 points and 4.8 assists per game during the season.

Gran Canaria finished eighth in the Liga ACB with an 18-16 record, losing to eventual league champion Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. reports Pangos signed a two-year contract. Gonzaga's all-time three point shooter made the announcement on Twitter and Instagram this morning (see below).

Pangos joins former Louisville standout Kyle Kuric (USA), Brad Newley (Australia), Sasu Salin (Finland) and Eulis Baez (Dominican Republic) as the only international players on the Spanish team.
