SWXRightNow.com -- The Spokane Indians will be without the services of right-hander Jason Hoppe going forward after the former 27th round draft pick was traded by the Texas Rangers to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for two international bonus slots on Thursday.

The two international slots are valued at around $879,500 according to MLB.com reporter Jesse Sanchez. Hoppe was assigned to the Burlington Bees, the Angels' class-A affiliate.

Hoppe spend his first professional season with the Indians last year and ended up with a 4.97 ERA over 15 games (four starts). In his two games so far this year the Minnesota native struck out five over 3.2 innings without giving up an earned run.

The Angels made such a big bang in international free agency last year by signing Roberto Baldoquin, they only had about $300,000 to spend this year. With the Rangers agreeing to about $2.6 million in bonuses to Leodys Taveras and Miguel Aparicio earlier today, they needed to allocated interanational money.
