VANCOUVER – The Spokane Indians spoiled Canada Day in Vancouver by shutting out the Canadians 3-0 on Wednesday night.

Three pitchers combined for the shutout with Emerson Martinez doing the bulk of the work to earn his first win of the season. Martinez pitched five innings, while Jeffrey Springs pitched 2.1 innings in relief, and Dario Beltre pitched 1.2 innings to earn his first save.

Offensively, the Indians scored early in the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Jamie Potts that plated LaDarious Clark.

Spokane held its 1-0 lead for most of the game and finally added some insurance in the 7th inning thanks to back-to-back hits. Ti’Quan Forbes plated Diego Cedeno with an RBI double, and Yeyson Yrizarri brought Forbes home with a single. Spokane led 3-0 at that point and went on to beat the Canadians by that same score.

Spokane has now won three of its last four games. The Canadians and Indians have two more games in Vancouver before the Indians return home to Spokane for 4th of July.
