SPOKANE -- Gonzaga seems to always have an impact on Hoopfest and this year it was in the Women's Elite Division. The team of Jazmine Redmon, Shannon Reader, Taelor Karr, Janelle Bekkering known as SLECU ZagBabes beat the BBB's 20-17 on Sunday to take their first Hoopfest Championship.

Former WCC Player of the Year Taelor Karr saved her best game for last. She hit five long 2's and finished with 12 points in the championship game.

“I knew we had a pretty good shot with the team that I had with Gonzaga teammates of the past,” said Karr. “It's fun to come out, comeback to Spokane and see everybody. We played well, I liked it.”

Karr earned MVP honors after her performance on Sunday.

For Jazmine Redmon, winning at Hoopfest is extra special for the Spokane-native.

‘I haven't played since high school so it means a lot to come back here and win it with my teammates,” said Redmon. “It's pretty awesome, I'm really happy.”

On the weekend SLECU ZagBabes went 5-0 including two wins over the BBB's on Sunday.

This core of former Gonzaga Bulldogs say they plan to come back next season to defend their title.
