SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Chiefs forward Adam Helewka was selected in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks on Saturday morning. He became the third Chiefs forward ever drafted by San Jose, joining notables Ray Whitney and Pat Falloon.

A winger from Burnaby, B.C., Helewka led the Chiefs in scoring during the 2014-15 season with 44 goals and 43 assists for 87 points, including a franchise record-tying nine-game goal streak. He became the eighth Chief since 1995-96 and 27th in franchise history to score 40 goals in one season.

“The Spokane Chiefs are very excited for Adam,” said Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz. “He has worked very hard to improve his game for the next level and has the size and skill to be a pro.”

Undrafted in the WHL Bantam Draft, Helewka was listed by the Chiefs in December of 2011. In his rookie 2012-13 campaign, he tallied 10 goals and 17 assists and was honored as the team's Rookie of the Year award winner. He followed that up with a 23-goal, 50-point effort in 2013-14 before coming on strong this past season.

In total, Helewka has played in 191 regular season games over three seasons for the Chiefs, netting 77 goals – 20 on the power play – and 87 assists for 164 points.

The Spokane Chiefs open the 2015-16 regular season with Bud Light Opening Night on Saturday, September 26 at Spokane Arena. Ticket packages are on sale now and start as low as $110.
