COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -
More than 1,000 kids took part in this year's IronKids fun run Saturday morning in McEuen Park. The City of Coeur d'Alene reports that over the past few years, the number of participants has more than tripled.
Younger kids raced around McEuen Park once on a half-mile course while older runners took two laps around the park. The IronKids received a T-shirt, official bib number and a medal for finishing. Their $5 entry fee went to the Coeur d'Alene's Parks Department to help fund trails and bikeways.
“It's fun to get kids involved early on in wanting to participate in bigger races later on,” said Monte McCully, trails coordinator for the city. “It's all about health, fitness and having fun.”
Don't forget, tomorrow's IRONMAN Coeur d'Alene starts at 5:30 a.m. PT and we will bring you live coverage on SWX starting at 6 a.m. PT and again for a special finishers show at 2 p.m. PT.
