BROOKLYN, New York -- Former Eastern Washington star shooting guard Tyler Harvey was selected No. 51 overall in the second round by the Orlando Magic during the 2015 NBA Draft at the Barclays Center on Thursday night.

Harvey finished the 2014-15 season averaging 23.1 points per game to lead the nation in scoring and the Eagles to Big Sky Conference regular season and tournament championship titles and only their second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

“We know exactly how hard Tyler's worked to get here,” Eastern teammate Felix Von Hofe said when Harvey declared. “To lead the nation in scoring and to finally see him reach his dream, something that all guys are striving for, that's fantastic."

Harvey became the first Eagle drafted since Rodney Stuckey was in 2006 and the first Big Sky player taken since Damian Lillard was in 2012.

The 6-foot-4 guard participated in the NBA Draft Combine and spent time with 14 teams during pre-draft workouts.

The Magic selected Spanish shooting guard Mario Hezonja with their first round pick (No. 5 overall). The FC Barcelona player is credited more for his athleticism and explosiveness than his shooting, which is exactly the reason Harvey was drafted.

Orlando currently has Victor Oladipo, Evan Fournier, Ben Gordon and Willie Green listed as shooting guards. Hezonja and Harvey will join them in the Magic the back court, unless there are any more draft-day trades in the works.
