SWXRightNow.com -  The Inland Northwest may be bracing for expected record temperatures, but now some people have another reason to look forward to fall and winter besides cooler weather.

The Spokane Chiefs and the Western Hockey League announced their regular season schedule for the upcoming 2015-16 season Wednesday, including all 36 home games which will be played at Spokane Arena. The Chiefs open up their season at home against the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, September 26.

In total, the Chiefs will host opponents for 27 weekend games; nine Fridays, 14 Saturdays and four Sundays. The remainder of the home schedule will be played on nine Wednesday nights throughout the season.

The Chiefs will need to find their road legs early, because after the home opener they hit the road for six straight games. They do not return to Spokane until Friday, October 16 to host the Prince Albert Raiders. After a five-game homestand, they'll pack up once again for two more weeks of playing on the road. Twelve of Spokane's first 18 games are away from the Spokane Arena.

Then, beginning on November 11 against the Everett Silvertips, the Chiefs will play 14 of their next 17 games at Spokane Arena. That includes their first matchup of the season with the defending WHL Champion Kelowna Rockets on November 14. The Chiefs also have home contests to bookend the annual holiday break in late December.

Spokane will play 38 games again U.S. Division foes; 16 home and 16 away. They play the rival Tri-City Americans 12 times, the Everett Silvertips 10 times, the Portland Winterhawks eight times and the Seattle Thunderbirds eight times.

By month, the Chiefs will play one game in September, fourteen in October (five at home), twelve in November (seven), 10 in December (seven), twelve in January (seven), thirteen in February (six) and 10 in March (three).

The 2015-16 home schedule will conclude with the Coca-Cola Regular Season Finale on Saturday, March 12 versus Kelowna. The full regular season schedule will end on the road against Tri-City on March 19.

The 792 game regular season concludes on Sunday, March 20th, with the 2016 WHL Playoffs and the battle for the Ed Chynoweth Cup beginning on Friday, March 25th.
