SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Indians starter Peter Fairbanks pitched five scoreless innings and former Whitworth star Dan Scheibe made his professional debut, but the Everett AquaSox still managed to pull out a 4-3 win on Bark in the Park night at Avista Stadium on Tuesday night.

Fairbanks got into a jam in the top of the first, only to work his way out of it stranding two Everett (4-2) runners to keep the goose egg on the board early. Despite the very happy dogs barking over in left field.

Spokane (4-2) capitalized on an AquaSox error when Doug Votolato singled and advanced to third on the errant throw on the pickoff attempt by Everett starter Luis Gohara. The AquaSox had a chance to keep the Indians off the board with a double play grounder from Connor McKay, but the throw to first went wide to give Spokane a 1-0 lead.

The Indians held the lead until the top of the seventh when when Everett tied things up on a passed ball to score Alex Jackson after Scheibe allowed him and Luis Liberato to get on with a walk and infield single. Logan Taylor hit an RBI single of of reliever Luis Parra to score Liberato and give the AquaSox a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the frame.

LaDarius Clark answered back for the Spokane in the bottom of the eighth inning with a 2-run home run to left field to give Spokane a 3-2 lead and the hopes to close things out in the top of the ninth.

Spokane earned a bit of luck when they caught Jackson rounding second a little too far after doubled to lead off the inning. Things turned sour after a Yeyson Yrizarri error at short let Liberato aboard and Drew Jackson singled to left on a line drive to move him into scoring position. Parra struck out Taylor for the second out of the inning but Ryan Uhl hit a 2-RBI double to give the AquaSox the 4-3 lead.

Ryan Moore singled with one out to give the Indians a chance, but Diego Cedeno lined into a double play at second to end the game.

Both teams will meet again tomorrow night, June 24, in game two of their three-game series.
