SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane broke the game open early as Darius Day belted a deep triple to center field for a bases-clearing triple, Connor McKay hit a solo homer in his professional debut, and the Indians beat the Hillsboro Hops, 8-3, taking the series, in front of 3,743 fans on Monday night.

Spokane scored all eight runs with two outs.

Day finished the night 2-for-4 to push his average to .400. The speedy center fielder from Chicago, Ill., collected a double, triple and three RBI. McKay, who signed with the Rangers as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas today, hit a two-out solo shot to right field in the seventh inning, and added an RBI single in the eighth for good measure.

Dean Long, Jamie Potts and Carlos Garay each drove in the first RBI of their professional careers.

Omarlin Lopez, making his second appearance this year, earned the win after throwing 2.2 perfect innings with three strikeouts. Jeffrey Springs tossed two shutout innings with four strikeouts in the eighth and ninth. As a staff, Spokane struck out 11 Hillsboro hitters.
