SWXRightNow.com -- Former Whitworth pitcher Dan Scheibe was named to the Spokane Indians roster for the upcoming single A short season after a standout year on the mound for the Pirates.

Scheibe is the only naturalized free agent on the Indians roster--there are several international free agents on the team--after going undrafted in the recent 2015 MLB Amateur Draft.

The Richland, Wash. native became the first Whitworth player named as a CoSIDA Capital One All-American after earning a 3.93 grade point average during his senior season. Scheibe just graduated with his degree in psychology a couple of weekends ago.

Scheibe finished his senior season with a team best 9-3 record, 2.10 ERA and 104 strikeouts. Scheibe also was the first pitcher to ever throw a no-hitter in the Northwest Conference Tournament in a 2-0 win vs. Linfield, he finished with 11 strikouts in the 2-0 win.

Scheibe will wear No. 30 for the Indians come opening day. Spokane's complete roster can be found HERE: bit.ly/1CadM3P

The first two games of the Indians' season will air live on SWX, starting with Opening Night at Avista Stadium on Thursday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m. PT.
