LEWISTON, Idaho -- Cameron Pongs two-RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Lewis-Clark State College to a 10-8 win over Faulkner (Ala.) in the NAIA World Series Championship play-in game at Harris Field on Thursday night.
With the win the Warriors (46-12) will face St. Thomas (Fla.) in the championship game tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. PT live on SWX and the Watch SWX app.
The Eagles (52-15) jumped out to a 5-0 lead over the first two innings before Beau Kearns came in and held them scoreless for LCSC in the top of the third.
The Warriors got four runs back in the bottom of the frame thanks in part to doubles by Cabe Reiten and Ty Jackson.
The one-run deficit was short lived when Faulkner added two in the top of the fourth, including a solo home run from Cody Sos to lead off the inning.
LCSC took its tied things up, 7-7, in the bottom of the fourth when Reiten came in to score following a 1-out triple and Jackson hit a two-run homer with two outs.
Randy Joung led off the top of the seventh with a home run to give the Eagles their third lead of the hitters affair.
Max Whitt followed suit in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff home run of his own to tie the game at 8-8 before Pongs hit his game-winning two-RBI single with the bases loaded and no outs to give the Warriors the win.
Kearns finished the game going the final seven innings, giving up only two runs with six strikeouts. Jackson led LCSC with three RBI and went 2-for-5 at the dish with a double and home run.
Robert Llera led all batters with 4 RBI for Faulkner in its final game of the season.
