SPOKANE, Wash. – Dan Ramsay is back as the baseball coach at Whitworth University.

Ramsay had resigned last month as the Pirates' head coach following his seventh season to accept the position of Director of Baseball Operations at Washington State University. But his position at WSU was in limbo after the Cougars fired their head baseball coach Donnie Marbut on Tuesday.

“We are delighted to welcome Dan back as our baseball coach,” said Tim Demant, Whitworth's Director of Athletics. “We are pleased that he will continue to impact the lives of the young men he coaches.”

Ramsay is 129-151-2 in his seven seasons leading the Pirates. He has guided Whitworth to a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament, including a berth in the Division III College World Series in 2012. This season the Pirates finished 28-15, winning the inaugural Northwest Conference tournament.

“I honestly don't know if there are words to describe how thankful I am for the opportunity to return to Whitworth,” Ramsay said. “I am grateful for the continued support from President Beck Taylor and from Tim Demant.”
